Initial Meeting: Free
These are subject to availability, normally lasting up to 30 minutes.
It is not a therapy session; instead it is an initial meeting where we can both get a sense of each other face to face, see my counselling room where the therapy will take place and the creative methods I use. You can use this time to briefly outline the concerns that bring you to seek therapy as well as ask any questions that you might have as to how I work. I will listen carefully. This initial process enables an initial decision to be made about whether we can work together and, if so, what that work may encompass. If we both agree to go ahead, we will then book in an Assessment Session.
Professional judgment will be given in deciding whether an initial meeting is sufficient and appropriate or an assessment session is required following initial enquiry. After an initial meeting, the next step will be to book a formal assessment session where a considered decision will be made by both parties to continue into formal therapy.
The Assessment Session is a formalised meeting to find out if therapy is the right course of action for you including the approach I offer and that I am the right therapist for you. You will share what brings you to seek therapy, symptoms you may have, the situation you find yourself in, relevant history and any medication etc., and what outcome you might wish to attain. You will be able ask questions of me that you might have in regard to how I work etc. I will listen carefully and gather detailed information.
This process enables a decision to be made about whether we can work together and, if so, what that work is likely to encompass. If we both agree to go ahead, we will then arrange ongoing therapy sessions as appropriate.
I offer a limited number of low cost counselling places to people experiencing genuine hardship e.g. on a low income or in receipt of benefits. If you wish to enquire about low cost sessions please make this clear so that we can discuss this in the Initial Meeting or Assessment Session.
I offer a concessionary rate for students in counselling or dance movement psychotherapy training.
Practice Location (Dance Movement Psychotherapy)
Coventry: The Moathouse Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre, 1 Winston Avenue, Coventry, CV2 1EA. Other locations are also possible.
Dance Movement Psychotherapy: £45.00
Assessment - £50.00
Individuals - £45.00
Couples - £70.00
Groups - £85.00*
*For some groups, the time allocated may need to be 1.5 hours. My fees would therefore depend on the number of clients, but an example would be £15 per person in a group of 6. This allows for thorough preparation and closing of the group. Sometimes, this process is negotiated to suit the needs of both parties.
Supervision: £40.00 - £50.00
Group - £100.00*
*The fees for group supervision will vary depending on the number of participants up to maximum at any one time of 4 participants. I work a supervision hour of 60 minutes, but for group supervision the length of time will depend on the number of participants. There may be room for negotiation of the fee for trainees.
I work a 55 minute therapeutic hour.
Payment is by cash or cheque at the beginning of each session unless agreed otherwise. Or you can pay by electronic payment upon which I will send you a link via email once a booking is confirmed.
My fees reflect the costs of professional membership fees, continuing professional development, supervision, public liability and indemnity insurance, personal tax and insurance, administration and any room hire if applicable.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS: Should you no longer require your appointment, please give me as much notice as possible. I have an answerphone service for messages on my mobile to be left at any time – I charge in full for appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice (at some locations, 48 hours notice) or where a client has simply failed to attend. However, in certain circumstances, this fee may be waived or reduced, but that will be at the discretion of the therapist. You will be expected to respect any decision made regarding charges. A sincere apology and respect for my time and costs incurred is always appreciated.
The rates that are offered above for counselling or supervision are applicable if you come to my own home where I have a professionally appointed private and confidential counselling room. If you wish to use other venues I will have to add room hire. Group therapy cannot be undertaken at my home and would thus require room hire to be added.
The Initial Meeting is free only if we meet using my own home venue (detailed above).
